Even though it lacks the raw portability of a "real" smartphone, the Galaxy Note is surprisingly popular. It's selling well too, in fact, so Samsung just unveiled a successor to the "phablet" in August at IFA in Berlin. iPhone 5 launches in September or October as we're predicting, it'll be an interesting fight to watch. Of course, Andriod 4.1 comes equipped out of the box, so there's no need to wait for manufacturer updates if you're an early adopter. Sounds like a merry Christmas to us.
