Nokia says it hasn't announced any plans for a Windws 8 tablet, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The company is developing a 10-inch tablet to battle the new iPad and the droves of Android slates on the market, says Digitimes. Nokia will outsource the project to Compal Electronics. Expect a dual-core processor and a Q4 release if no delays occur.

  • Windows 8 Comes In Three Flavors

    Windows 8 ships in three different editions. The regular, consumer edition is called Windows 8, but Windows 8 Pro includes some features that developers, IT professionals and tech nerds will appreciate. Those two editions of Windows 8 can run on devices that use x86 processors. Finally, Window RT is specifically for devices that use ARM processors, and you can only get it pre-installed on devices. That means you can't actually buy Windows 8 RT for other devices that don't already have it.

  • Windows 8 Hits Stores in October

    The latest news out of Bloomberg says Microsoft will launch Windows 8 in October. I say add an extra month for some unexpected delays (pesky hardware manufacturers are not as reliable with dates), so expect it in November.
