Asus Transformer Prime Release Date

ASUS warned us the next Transformer tablet would be a beast, and it turns out the company doesn't mess around with words. The ASUS Transformer 2 (renamed Transformer Prime) tablet will be the first mobile device to ship with a quad-core processor, the Kal-El Tegra 3 chip from NVIDIA. For the unaware, "Kal-El" is fictional hero Superman's real name, the title he was given by his alien parents on planet Krypton before he crash landed on Earth. Like the original Transformer tablet, this second iteration is compatible with a keyboard dock that morphs it from a tablet into a netbook.

Official Announcements

ASUS revelaed the Transformer Prime at AsiaD 2011 in the second half of October 2011, and the company planned to release the tablet in December. Gamestop's internal systems indicated a December 19 launch for the retail chain. Though we thought a launch too close to Christmas was an unlikely move, units started shipping a few days before Christmas to customers that pre-ordered the tablet. Unfortunately, the 64GB model has been delayed until Q2 2012.

December 19 is when pre-orders started shipping. It's not really the day you could walk into big retail and leave with one, though that probably would've been the case if people didn't place so many pre-orders. First come, first serve.

Release day was 12/19. Its now 12/21. Nobody has one. If apple did this to its legion of fanboys, there would be blood at the genius bar. Amazon says "ships in 4 to 7 weeks." That means "beats the hell out of us when we'll have it,"

Every reviewer I see seems to be reviewing a set of specs, with no hardware in their hands. Anybody actually had one put in their hands yet? When that happens, I'll take a review seriously.

Top comment in this pool of madness. I also would prefer an improved copper design in tf prime, howevginal tf (which is great for asus by the way).er I love the aluminium design as well. This is clearly intended to hit a broader market than the ori

why you all know

Lots of people did not know that ASUS has been around forever and they have been building computers forever. Most computers that were ever built, the internals were all built by ASUS. They are one of the best leading technology developers in the world.

Will this be wifi only or will some sort of data package be available?
